Tips on Maintain Your Necktie

Necktie is an essential accessory, which is generally rested under the shirt collar and knotted at the throat. Necktie is popular for men as it is an effective item to show your age, occupation, temperament, culture, and economic capability. Men tend to wear neckties as part of their formal wear. Therefore, it is significant to learn how to keep your ties in good condition and how to take care of your ties.

You should unfasten your necktie by means of taking it off from its tie knot. You should be gentle and avoid applying excessive force and dragging too much. Otherwise, it would be likely to destroy the special fiber of your tie and bring about permanent wrinkles.

After wearing necktie, it would be better of you to fold it into half and keep it flat. You could also nicely hang it up by making use of a shelf. But you should make sure the shelf is smooth enough and would not scratch your tie.

When you drive your car and tend to fasten seat belt, you’d better not put your tie into the safety belt because it would be easy to wrinkle your tie.

For those ties that you have worn, it would be beneficial for you to place it in somewhere which is humid to get back into shape. And then lay it flat or hang it up.

Once it is stained, you should send it to laundry immediately. In order to effectively deal with the wrinkles of the tie knot, you should iron it at a low temperature as it is generally accepted that fabrics would be prone to be out of shape after ironing in high temperature and washing.

You should keep in mind that silk ties are not suitable for washing. When you have to wash them, you should make sure your fingers are clean enough and would not soil them.

Finally, you should keep them dry before dressing and avoid direct sunlight. For those ties that would not be used for a long time, you’d better iron them before store so as to have a good effect of disinfection.
